BIZ: Manufacture: Hino's truck sales and output in Malaysia exceeds 5,000 units a year

Malaysia/Japan - Having announced delivery of its 100,000th Hino truck - the 500-series FM2PN1D model, a medium/heavy duty truck with a 6x4 drive configuration - in February by Hino Motor's Malaysian distributor, Hino Motors Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (HMSM), the company also celebrated steady production and sales in the country for the past two years. HMSM, first established in 1977 to provide logistics services and products to a fast-growing Malaysian economy, has since become a leading supplier of rigid trucks over 2 tons gvw, with a share of 35% share - just behind Isuzu which controls over 38% of this segment. Hino sold a total of 5,520 vehicles in 2019, according to the Malaysian Automotive Association, down from 5,808 units in 2018.
