摘要

New Delhi-India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of New Delhi on February 20, 2020, issued draft regulations concerning the management, handling, recycling and disposal of batteries for vehicles and several other applications in the country. The proposed draft called, Battery Waste Management Rules 2020, include batteries of all chemistries, unlike the previous legislation, Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules 2001, which only mentions lead-acid batteries. The proposed new regulation aims to cover all parties involved in the manufacture, processing, sale, purchase, collection, storage, re-processing, disposal and use of batteries. (Certain equipment is to be exempt, however, from the new regulations including military equipment, space exploration equipment, and emergency and alarm systems).
