摘要

In this work, the friction and galling properties of 7075 aluminum alloy sheet at different temperatures from ambient to 400 degrees C have been investigated by performing linear unlubricated reciprocating sliding tests on a ball on-plate tribometer. It was found that a compacted layer could be formed on the worn surface and its effect on the friction behavior of the alloy was determined. Thereafter, coupled with dissolution-precipitation of the hard phase, a friction evolution model of the alloy was established and the friction mechanism at different temperatures was revealed. At 25 degrees C and 150 degrees C, the friction mechanism of 7075 aluminum alloy sheet is mainly ploughing friction. When higher than 300 degrees C, the dominant friction mechanism becomes the adhesive peeling off.
