Smaller firms speak up

Clients often boast about the range of opportunities they provide to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Government has a target to ensure a third of its spend on goods and services goes to small businesses by 2022 and Crossrail has previously said that more than half of companies winning work on its scheme were SMEs. High Speed 2 aims to go further, by awarding 60% of contracts to these 'smaller' firms.
