Abolition of the Private Finance Initiative and its successor PF2 for future infrastructure projects may not spell the end for private investment in road building. In his recent Budget, the Chancellor Philip Hammond described the model as "inflexible and overly complex" and said he will never sign off a PFI contract while at the helm of the Treasury.
