Devolved funding urged to pay for infrastructure

Greater consensus needs to be built over the country's long term objectives for infrastructure investment and Whitehall should relinquish further decision making powers to the regions, policy specialists say. National Infrastructure Commissioner Bridget Rosewell urged more agreement on "the big projects over which we have been arguing and debating for so long", hinting that schemes like Crossrail and High Speed 2 take too long to get spades in the ground.
