Supporting Legal Deposit for a National Library: Portico's Project with the British Library. An Essay in Honour of Dame Lynne Brindley

The article addresses one area where Lynne Brindley's leadership made a tre- mendous difference: digital preservation. In the article, the author conducts an interview between two project leaders - one from the British Library, the other from Portico, the digital archiving service of ITHAKA - in which they discuss their collaborative work in defining and designing systems, project management across the two institutions, the process of reaching agreements with publishers during this pilot phase, and lessons learned that can be used by other national libraries
