VENATOR: TiO2 Profitability Dropped from 24-25% in 2017/18 to 12% in 2019

Venator operates in more than 20 different tax jurisdictions and for each jurisdiction it regularly reviews its judgment about the realisability of its deferred tax assets. In its 10-K/Annual Report, Venator explained: "Based on management's ongoing analysis of positive and negative evidence within our German business we have concluded at 31 December 2019 that there is insufficient positive evidence to overcome a history of losses. As a result, we believe it is more likely than not that our deferred tax assets will not be realised and we have recognised a full valuation allowance against our net deferred tax assets of $US 162 million."
