KENMARE: Benefits from Ilmenite Supply Constraints Elsewhere

Consequently, global ilmenite inventories that were carried into 2019 were drawn down throughout the year. In early 2020, ilmenite demand continues to outstrip supply and Kenmare sees limited potential for new supply entering production in the short term. Global demand for ilmenite was impacted by challenging TiO2 pigment market conditions, as geopolitical factors such as the US/China trade war and Brexit dampened pigment demand. In addition, pigment producers destocked their excess product inventories during H1 2019, reducing their purchases of titanium feedstocks.
