PERTH 2017: Peering Through the Mist towards an Uncertain Future

After four successive years in Melbourne, the Informa Mineral Sands Conference returned to Perth in March 2017. Ms Rosie Hooley and Ms Kathryn Granheim led the Informa team ensuring that the conference proceeded smoothly. Mr Reg Adams (of Artikol) chaired the sessions on Day One; Mr Robert Sennitt (of MDL) chaired the sessions on Day Two. A novel feature this year was the inclusion of a mine site visit, generously hosted by MZI Resources. The object of the visit was the world's largest leucoxene mine at Keysbrook (70 km south of Perth), opened by MZI in October 2015. MZI is currently producing about 50,000 t.p.a. of leucoxene here, marketed as L-88 (with a minimum TiO2 content of 88%) and L-70 (70% TiO2), plus more than 15,000 t.p.a. of zircon.
