Development and Testing of a Digital Apparatus for Measurement of the Angle of Repose

摘要

Equipment has been developed to digitally measure the angle of repose of granular materials and to directly display the angle of repose on Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). The performance of the equipment was tested by measuring the angle of repose of five different grains namely wheat, paddy, mustard, pigeon pea and soybean at different moisture levels and the observe data was compared with the angle of repose of these grains by traditional method. The variability between observations recorded by two different methods was compared using t-test at1% level of significance. It was found that using the observation of angle of repose recorded by developed equipment were well within the acceptable limit at 1% probability and it was noted that angle of repose measured by developed equipment can be used for different purpose with as good accuracy as that by traditional method.
