The planting of soybeans to fallow sugarcane fields is one way to increase farm income. However, field productivity and the ability to harvest the beans inside of an optimum harvest period is key to generating profitability on those once fallow fields. Through the use of partial budgeting and breakeven analysis, the pros and cons of producing a secondary crop on fallow sugarcane acreage can be examined.
