Recent papers by Horsburgh et al. (2016a, 2016b) and Horsburgh (2017) continue to question the results of faunal identification by faunal specialists, as aDNA analysis has provided different results. In this paper, we question the results of this aDNA study, and argue that morphological identifications of faunal remains can and do provide reliable results. We propose ways in which faunal and aDNA specialists can cooperate more closely.
