It has been a long, hard haul in energy producing provinces since 2014. We have watched multi-national energy firms pull out of the region and many jobs have gone with them. Fewer jobs means less commercial space requirements. Altus Group reported Calgary has been the hardest hit centre in Canada, with the downtown core having a vacancy rate that peaked at 27 per cent in March 2018.
