Zur Rose swallows up another German rival

Swiss supply chain disruptor Zur Rose has swallowed up yet another competitor in its bid for German mailorder pharmacy channel domination. Subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities, Zur Rose will acquire for approximately €170 million the e-commerce operations of German online pharmacy Medpex. With its focus on OTC medicines and pharmacy exclusive cosmetic products, the firm said that the acquisition of Medpex – the “third-largest online pharmacy in Germany” – would “enhance” the market position of its Germany-focused DocMorris subsidiary and have a “positive impact” on Zur Rose’s growth and profitability in the country.
