More than normal, I am hoping for an Indian summer in the UK this year (and apologies to our Antipodean readers for whom the summer is just beginning). An Indian summer would at least help that the ‘Summer 2019’ issue of this Journal has appeared rather late in the year. As I hope most members will be aware (at least all who have e-mail addresses and could be contacted electronically) I found my in-tray of submissions to the Journal totally empty by the time that I should have been compiling this issue back in May. In the 6 years that I have been editing, there have been a few moments where one or two anticipated contributions failed to materialise on time but by providence (or arm-twisting) something else would turn up and fill the gap. Not this time; the in-tray remained empty. I am therefore particularly thankful to the superb response to the e-mail that was sent out in June alerting members to the situation and requesting contributions. Amongst many e-mails expressing empathy at my situation, there were several offers of material for publication which now make this issue possible. I even have some in reserve for the 'Winter 2019' issue, but of course more is welcome (and necessary) for that to be complete. My apologies to all readers for the delays with this issue; I hope we can now get back on track.
