The 18F-fluoro-deoxy-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) images are frequently evaluated using a semi-quantitative analysis by standardized uptake value (SUV) rather than a quantitative analysis by metabolic rate of glucose (MRglu). Although both semi-quantitative and quantitative analyses provide an estimation of glucose consumption, MRglu is considered more accurate than SUV mainly because it takes into account the kinetics of 18F-FDG in the tissues, which are represented by a two-tissue compartment
