Golden orchids, pink pigeons and wet feet

In 2019 Kew researchers Phillip Cribb and Johan Hermans were asked to write the orchid account for the Flore des Mascareignes. This long-established series, supported by the Mauritius Sugarcane Industry Research Institute, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew,and the French Institut de Recherche pour Developpement, documents the entire rich flora of La Reunion, Mauritius and Rodrigues islands (collectively, the Mascarenes). The two books on the Orchidaceae will finally complete the series; a major and daunting undertaking, to be finished within just two years.
