THE SANTA ROSA MINE

The Santa Rosa mine (SWVi Sec. 1 and SEV4 Sec. 2, T35N, R41E), is located about 25 miles southeast of Lone Pine, inyo County, California, and can be reached by about 11 miles of dirt road north from State Route 190. At an elevation of 6,600 feet, it is situated about 11 miles southeast of the Cerro Gordo mining district (Merriam, 1963) and 13 miles northeast from the Darwin district (Hall and Mackevett, 1963). At one time the Santa Rosa mine was the eighth largest lead producer in California.
