The repellent and insectlcidal effects of the plant extracts of neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss), urmoi (Sapium sebiferum Roxb.) and pithraj (Aphonomixis polystachya Perker) in water, ethanol, methanol, ethanol Soxhlet's, methanol Soxhlet's were discussed. All plant extracts showed strong feeding deterrent effects than untreated leaves including nonidet 0.1% N. The results indicated that the test plant extracts possessed feeding deterrent and insecticidal properties. Among all plant extracts, the urmoi seed kernel extract (USKE) showed promising result in all cases followed by neem (NSKE) and pithraj (PSKE). Leaf extracts in general appeared less active than seed extract, but still higher than untreted leaves. Repellency was found directly proportional to the concentration of the plant extracts. Ethanol and Soxhlet's methanol extracts had excellent insecticidal properties. The water extract of plant materials was also found promising as compared with the control and nonidet 0.1% N.
