摘要

We present a 57-year-old female patient with a vestibular schwannoma, a benign brain tumour, who presented initially to her dentist with toothache. Her symptoms progressed to trigeminal neuralgia. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan showed compression of the intracranial section of the ipsilateral trigeminal nerve, initial medical management was partially successful in alleviating the pain. The patient was referred to neurosurgery and underwent resection of the tumour. Dentists should be aware of atypical causes for facial pain, and wary when restorative measures do not relieve symptoms.
