According to the American Psychiatric Association, hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) is defined by a deficiency or absence of sexual fantasies and desire for sexual activity that causes marked distress or interpersonal difficulty and is not due to the physiologic effects of a substance (ie, medication) or a general medical or psychiatric condition.1 The clinicians judgment of deficiency or absence should take into account individual patient characteristics and life context.1
