Owning and Managing a Small Essex Wood

The northern part of Essex is a patchwork of fields andwoods. A much-maligned county, Essex none theless has much of what Oliver Rackham called "Ancient Countryside". This is a landscape untouched by the enclosure acts so has a deep history going back to pre-Roman times. Nearly 30 years ago we were fortunate to be able buy the freehold of a 6 acre (2.4ha) ancient wood set amidst this landscape. This was made possible by a generous loan from very good friends.
