Network Mapping of the Grey Model Research-A Visualized Analysis Using CiteSpace

As an effective method of predicting and fitting data based on small samples, the grey models have been utilized in various fields for a long time. In order to learn the current situation and emerging trends of grey model research, this paper uses CiteSpace to provide a visualization review. The data is retrieved from 1071 grey prediction related articles on Web of Science. The contributions of the study are manifold: (1) A network mapping of cited papers is given to directly illustrate the 6 papers that have made significant theoretical contributions in this field; (2) A dual-map overlay analysis of publications involving grey models showed us that most of them are related to the disciplines of mathematics, veterinary, ecology, physics, medicine, and psychology; (3) After being proposed in 1982, the grey models had gradually developed and became more obvious around 2010. In recent years, its extended applications have been increasingly proposed; (4) The highly cited papers, hot papers, most cited papers, and most widely used papers are derived to show the research trends in grey model research. This paper provides an overall analysis of grey model research and gives some inspirations for researchers to do further investigations.
