The occurrence and organ wise distribution of ecto- and endo parasites of three indigenous major carps, Labeo rohita, Cirrhina' mrigcda and Catla catla were investigated. The host fishes were collected from different water bodies of Rajshahi districtfrom March 2008 to December 2008. A total of 220 host fishes was examined out of which 180 fishes were infected by numerous protozoan and metazoan parasites. Ten different ecto- and endo parasitic genera were identified from five different organs. Trichodtna reticulata, Myxobolus koi, Chilodonella cyprini, Dactylogyrus catlarius, and Gyrodactylus cyprini were collected from gills; Trichodina sp., Myxobolus sp., Ichthyophthirius molitrix and Gyrodactylus sp. were collected from skins. Argulus sp. and Gyrodactylus sp. were collected from fins. Eucreadium sp. and Camallanus lacustris were collected from intestine and only one genus Fellodistomwn was collected from stomach. The highest abundance of the parasites was recorded from gills. Skin was the secondvulnerable place for parasitic infestation and the lowest abundance of parasites was found in the stomach. The infestation rate of the fin and intestine was not so prominent, but in some cases these were more infected than any other organs.
