First slab plant to be commissioned in Malaysia

Eastern Steel plans to officially start up its first slab-producing mill in September at a cost of MYR1 bn ($309 M, ?228 M). The mill will commission a 600 cu.m blast furnace with total potential output of 700,000 t/y of slab, said C S Low, executive director for Eastern Steel. "We will gradually ramp up capacity," he told CRU Steel News.
