The EU regulatory committee on genetically modified crop approvals has failed to agree on whether to overturn Hungary's 2005 ban on the cultivation of Monsanto's insect-resistant MON8I0 maize.While 14 member states voted against the European Commission's proposal that Hungary should lift the ban,this was not enough to reach the qualified majority required to reject the proposal.
