The suitability of different feeds for the larval rearing of pabda, Ompokpabda was investigated. A completely randomized design (CRD) with fourtreatments, each with three replications, was followed. Four different feeds weretested. The feeds were assigned to different treatments as: Anemia nauplii (T_1),tubiflcid worms (T_2), rotifer powder (T_3) and zooplankton (T_4). The experiment wascontinued for a period of 28 days. Induced breeding larvae (four-day old) wereused in the experiment. The water quality variables, such as temperature (28.0 +-1.0 deg C), dissolved oxygen (5.40 +- 0.70 to 5.80 +- 0.90 ppm), pH (7.00 +- 0.60 to 7.40+- 0.50), total hardness (114 +- 5.00 to 116 +- 6.00), free ammonia (0.021 +- 0.001 to0.025 +- 0.001), etc., were found within the acceptable limit of larval rearing. Thelarvae fed with tubiflcid worms had significantly (p < 0.05) highest growth (percent length gain 235.80 +- 2.09, per cent weight gain 2025.10 +- 17.82, specificgrowth rate 13.55 +- 0.01) and survival (65.0 +- 2.0%), followed by Artemia nauplii,zooplankton and rotifer powder. Finely chopped tubiflcid worms were suggested tofeed pabda larvae up to a stockable size.
