Chinese steel producer Shougang Concord International Enterprises remains positive on steel industry outlook though it posted a 62.8% lower net profit in H1 to HK$167m ($21.4m). “We judge the disequilibrium between high raw material cost and low steel manufacturing profits to be primarily temporary,” the company told Hong Kong bourse. “With steel demand on the uptick through still strong investment growth, social housing and replacement needs, the industry is currently at its darkest before dawn.”
