Japanese February steel exports up on the year but down on the month

Japanese steel exports fell back slightly in February from month-earlier levels, although they were substantially higher on the year as producers reap the benefits of the weakening Japanese currency. Overall exports rose by 12.8% year-on-year to 3.6mt, marking a fourth straight month of gains, while they dropped by 0.8% from January levels after three months of back-to-back rises, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Finance.
