A Comparative Study of Beach Placer of Cox's Bazar and Stream Placer of the Padma Along Rajshahi Region, Bangladesh in Connection with Statistical Parameters and Economic Heavy Mineral Assemblages
The paper deals with a comparative study of the beach placer of Cox's Bazar and stream placer of the padma along Rajshahi region relating to variation of statistical parameters and economic heavy mineral assemblages. The transportation dynamics of thebeach placer show two segments with 79.34% saltation population and 20.58% suspension population while the padma stream placer shows three segments comprising 17.33% bottom traction, 72.22% saltation population and 10.45% suspension population. Comparison of graphic measures shows that the mean and simple skevvness measures of the two study areas show close resemblances; skewness, kurtosis and sorting are weakly reiated and standard deviation is highly unrelated. A comparison of heavy minerals studiesreveafs that in the Cox's Bazar beach stretch the most dominant mineral is ilmenite while the Padma stream placer has highest abundance of garnet.
