摘要

Chlamydia and gonorrhea are often asymptomatic, having a significant impact on reproductive health. Current practice focuses on urine-based screening to detect these sexually transmitted infections (STIs), leading to missed infections at extragenital sites. Universal screening is a method to improve screening and increase detection. The objective of this study was to increase screening, detection, and treatment of STIs at extragenital sites to reduce transmission, antibiotic resistance, and reproductive health sequelae. Academic detailing sessions were implemented to increase universal screening and patient self-collection at extragenital sites. Universal STI screening will improve screening methods, increase STI detection rates, and decrease transmission of disease. (c) 2019 Published by Elsevier Inc.
