Market sources describe Japan's mini-mills as adopting a very cautious stance towards orders because they are seeking to push through significant price hikes from next month. EAF operators are said to be taking only minimal orders for products such as shapes and rebar in order to avoid being locked into low prices ahead of the expected rises.
