Histological and Haematological Evaluation of Antibacterial Compound Isolated and Purified from Native Isolate of Cephalosporium species

An antibacterial compound was extracted from a native isolate of Cephalosporium sp. The compound was isolated and purified in the laboratory. The compound was administered orally in four different groups of rats (Long Evan) at a dose of 5 mg/kg to evaluate the histological and haematological toxicity on biological system. The treatment was done for 7 consectutive Jays and the control was treated with normal saline. Histological studies of liver, spleen and kidney of control and treated rates show normal architecture. In haematological studies no significant changes was observed in estimation of haemoglobin (gm%). Total count of WBC which has showed that the purified compound is safe and shows no adverse effect on given parameters on different biological system.
