The paper deals with the radiometric and magnetometric surveys and their mineralogical relationship in a part of the beach of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. The radiometric survey with a Field Geiger-Muller Counter indicates that the radioactivity in the area ranges from 0.1 to 1.2 milliroentgen per hour. Other than radioactive monazite, zircon, seems to contribute some radioactivity to the sands as higher amount of radioactivity was followed by greater concentration of zircon. In a part of the area, four arbitrary lines can be drawn representing a zonal distribution of radioactivity where the ranges are from 0.1 to 0.3, 0.3 to 0.5, 0.5 tO 0.8 and 0.8 to more than 0.9 milliroentgen per hour. The magnetic separation of minerals followed by microscopic study reveals that iron minerals like magnetite and ilmenite are present at an average of 17.13% and their relative abundance is very much consistent with magnetometric readings.
