Resurgence of the caddis Oecetis notata (Rambur, 1842) (Trich: Leptoceridae) in Britain and Ireland

On 30 June 2019, JPOC took a female of Oecetis notata (Rambur, 1842) at Celbridge on the River Liffey in County Kildare. Subsequently (7 July 2019), on another visit to the area with Mary O'Connor, adults (6 3 9 9) were found to be abundant along a kilometre stretch of the river. He had unsuccessfully searched for this species at nearby Lucan on the Liffey many times over the past 45 years; the Liffey at Lucan, County Dublin, is where the species was first discovered in Ireland (King, 1888.
