Status of the Tissue Triphosa dubitata (L.) (Lep.: Geometridae) in Scotland with some observations of overwintering individuals

At the end of October 2016, there were twenty records of Tissue Triphosa dubitata L. from Scotland in the National Moth Recording Scheme (NMRS) database, and another individual recorded in September 2016 (B. Dean pers. comm.). As far as we can tell none of these were recorded at hibernation (or maybe more correctly diapause) sites. The Scottish Macro-moth List (Leverton, 2015, www.mothscount.org/text/73/guidance_ notes.html) records the Tissue's status as "Irregular and scarce, perhaps vagrant exceptin SW". Our recent searches of hibernation sites in central and south-eastern Scotland have significantly changed that picture.
