Brighton's beach might be a popular destination, but the Preston Rock Garden, slap bang on the A23 London to Brighton road, surely comes a close second. Owned by Brighton and Hove City Council, and one of the UK's largest municipal rock gardens (nearly lha/2.4 acres), the garden is laid out on an incline that slopes down to the west side of the road and makes spectacular viewing, especially at this time of year, when the main bank displays layer upon layer of traffic-stopping colour.
