Serbia restarts Smederevo steel works

Production at the Serbian steel maker Zelezara Smederevo has restarted after a gap of nine months. One of the two blast furnaces of the flat-rolled products' mill was fired up this week as the government continues to search for an investor in the unprofitable plant, which was sold to the state by US Steel at the start of last year for a token dollar.
