Electrochemical biosensors typically operate under cyclic voltammetric or chronoamperometric conditions, which probe the binding affinity between receptors and ligands such as antibodies and antigens, as well as labeling moieties and redox mediators. Non-faradaic methods such as impedance spectroscopy do not always capture direct physical information about the species being probed. Researchers from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan developed a method whereby non-faradaic current was measured for electrodes with immobilized DNA in a concentrated salt environment for biosensor applications.
