Recent Norfolk water beetle records

The paper by Martin Collier and Steve Lane (2019) concerned mainly terrestrial beetles in Norfolk, and this prompted us to consider whether there might be a complementary paper based on recent wetland surveys. In terms of new county records the answer has to be a resounding "no", hardly surprising given how much work has been done in the past, but the following records may be of interest, introducing a few sites not surveyed before. New data on Norfolk's water beetles have largely been acquired through the Norfolk Ponds and the Flagship Ponds projects. The Hydroscape project has generated new beetle records as part of a study of freshwater life in three landscapes: North Norfolk, the Lake District and the Glasgow area. There is also continuing interest in justifying Norfolk's claim to be the principal contributor to Britain's water beetle biodiversity, in the palsa scar ponds of the Brecks and in the fenland of the Broads.
