First record of Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabricius) (Bostrichidae) in the open in Northamptonshire

On the afternoon of 4 July, 2017, whilst working in the garden, I noticed a small brown beetle clinging to my shirt. At first glance it looked similar to a scolytid and I tubed it for inspection later. Under the microscope it became evident that it was a bostrichid from the structure of the antenna and the asperities on the pronotum. Using Booth, Cox & Madge (1990), it keyed out to the Dinoderinae and then to Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabricius) on the basis of regular, well-punctured striae, metatarsi shorter than metatibia, second antennal segment equal to first, and the frontal half of the pronotum with coarse asperities with a granular hind area.
