Although still officially pegged at earlier price levels, flat steel in Turkey is under heavy pressure because of drops in other products and a general expectation of softening steel prices arising from weakness in scrap. Indeed, some deals have already been closed at lower prices and discounts in individual negotiations are readily available, according to market sources. For the moment, average mill prices for March shipment HRC remain in the $580/t to $600/t (?423-438/t) ex-works bracket.
