The Northern Crested Caracara is an interestingraptor from Central and South America that is found in only a few states in the southern U.S.; it enters our country near the Mexican border and in Florida. Its cousin, the Southern Crested Caracara, lives south of the border, where it is a common subject in folklore and legends.Some people call the caracara the "Mexican eagle" due to the raptor on the Mexican flag but that is a golden eagle, not a caracara.
