Mud trouble is a result of lower settling rate of muddy juice obtained after liming and sulphitation reaction. Various factors are responsible for this lower settling rate. In this part we will discuss one of the major factor responsible for mud trouble i.e. quantity of milk of lime used and method of milk of lime application. Effect of milk of lime technique on mud settling rate - On the basis of milk of lime application, the liming and suiphitation process of cane juice clarification may be classified as follows.
