Screening of sugarcane varieties against smut disease

Out of 10 varieties screened for their reaction to sugarcane smut caused by Ustilago Scitaminea sydow.5 varieties viz.MS 8802, MS 8901, MS8905, CoM 8910 and CoM 8920 were found to be Moderately resistant whereas 3 varieties viz.CoM.8913 Co 8014 and Co 86032 were found to be Moderately susceptible and remaining 2 varieties were found to be susceptible to highly susceptible.
