Eurozone crisis deepens despite EU summits

The Eurozone sovereign debt crisis has worsened over the past three months, despite the efforts of EU leaders to broker a solution at summits held in late October and early December. Although market sentiment temporarily improved before and just after these meetings, and despite the promises of tighter budgetary discipline and increased resources for the EFSF bailout fund that have ensued, the markets have signalled their mistrust in the aftermath of both agreements.
