A field experiment was conducted during 1995-1997 and at Water Management Project, Rahuri to find out a suitable planting technique for sugarcane for economic adoption of drip irrigation system with testing the efficiency of liquid fertilizers through drip for achieving higher cane yield, water and fertilizer saving. Technique of one furrows (90 cm) skipped after four planted furrows was found superior in increasing the cane yield (151.57 t/ha) compared to one furrow (75 cm) skipped after two planted furrows (145.96 t/ha). Application of liquid fertilizers through drip were found more efficient by 25 percent fertilizer saving as well as increased the cane yield by 20.74 percent compared to conventional fertilizer application.
