First y-o-y rise in Japanese steel exports for 15 months

Japanese iron and steel exports soared in May following fourteen straight months of year-on-year declines. Total shipments overseas rose by 21% y-o-y and 29.7% from the previous month to 4.01mt, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), with carbon steel shipments up by 24.9% from April to 2.53mt and specialty steel up by 34% to 822,536t.
