Reduced demand for coking coal from overseas has led Patriot Coal to start curtailing output from its higher-cost production units in Southern West Virginia. The company will idle a contractor-operated mine and two subsidiary-operated mines in the Rocklick complex, and two contractor-operated mines in the Wells complex.
